To date, Ante Up For Africa has raised close to $2 million for the cause.

This year Ante Up For Africa will host an exclusive party for the players and stars at PURE, one of Vegas’ hottest night clubs. The 3rd Annual Ante Up for Africa Tournament will be televised on ESPN on Tuesday, August 11 from 8-10 PM ET.

“It is an honor and very exciting to have ESPN turn the cameras on for our event,” said Annie Duke. “This will make great strides in raising awareness about this ongoing crisis.”

Hitman Fight Gear, along with Punishment was among the companies at an event at the Hooters Las Vegas showcasing apparel inspired by mixed martial arts.

Billed as a showcase for the “edgier lifestyle,” the first Pre-Party exclusively for apparel inspired by the mixed martial arts phenomenon debuted this Memorial weekend as part of the Action Sports Retailer at Hooters Casino Las Vegas. Autograph signing with UFC fighter Martin Kampman and the Hitman Fight Girls.

“MMA is the fastest growing sport right now, and as branded as kids and society are today, everyone sees an opportunity,” said Trent Wittman, 40, co-owner of Phoenix-based Grudge Fightware, whose own T-shirt, beanie and hoodie line featured plenty of stylized skulls. “Skulls. The kids love them.”

Once decried by critics as “human cockfighting” and banned in several states, the sport – a freestyle combination of judo, boxing, karate, kickboxing, jiujitsu and wrestling – has grown in popularity and respectability since it emerged in the early 1990s.

While still niche, MMA now attracts a large pay-per-view following and, after toning down the brutality of its early image with less violence, more refereeing and timed bouts, is definitely going mainstream.

The sport’s dominant organization, the Ultimate Fighting Championship, has its own reality television show featuring up-and-coming MMA fighters. The series, “The Ultimate Fighter,” is the highest-rated original series on Spike TV, averaging 2 million viewers over seven seasons.

This year, CBS started showing full MMA matches in prime time, and two movies set in the MMA world hit theaters in recent months, including one by acclaimed writer David Mamet.

Still, nothing says mainstream pop culture like your own brand. And with apparel lines like Hitman, Sinister, Extreme Pain, Punishment and Hostile, MMA aficionados hope to get a chokehold on the broader youth market for action sports.

“There are a lot of retailers that are already carrying edgier lifestyle brands alongside surf-and skate-inspired sportswear,” said Tito Ortiz, an MMA athlete and founder of Punishment Athletics. “(This event) gives us the opportunity to reintroduce ourselves to retailers that may have preconceived ideas about MMA, while making an introduction to others who are curious about this industry.”

“There are a lot of browsers, but no orders,” said Nick Kosovich, owner of Los Angeles-based Valhalla Brand, a line of tattoo-inspired T-shirts with original designs by tattoo artists such as Mark Mahoney, who has put his stamp on the likes of Angelina Jolie and Bruce Willis. “But I didn’t expect much the first time out, and there’s no baseline to compare.”

The City of Palm Springs hosted 9,000 to 10,000 bikes throughout the three day event. The motorcycle rally included live music, endless shopping, amazing stunt shows and for participants; poker runs, bike games and a competition ride in shows.

Rachel Shine – Miss American Heat Spokesmodel

This years “Miss American Heat” spokesmodel – Rachel Shine (Model, Actress & Go-Go Dancer). Rachel has been featured in several movies, she has also modeled at the Playboy Mansion, been a promotional model for Rockstar Energy Drink and featured in many magazines.

With all the hot custom bikes… Rachel was still the most photographed. Not hard to believe, she has one of the sexiest body you’ll find anywhere. We followed Rachel to see what she ate for lunch… hmm… a hoagie sandwich and a slice of pizza? Dang… we thought she would have water and a salad. Where does she put it?

Rachel; “I’m far from all stereotypes you want to put on me. I’m born and raised in Long Beach, California. I work for everything I have… Nothing is given to me. I am solely dependent on myself and love to keep it that way. I’m young but know enough, girls like me are hard to come by. I get over things quickly and I am probably the coolest girl you will ever meet. I’m a lover when I’m loving and a fighter when I’m fighting. I’m super easy to get along with but hard to get to know right away. I love my few close friends and my photographer Johnny. They are the only ones there for me through thick and thin… they are my family. I love my life. I’m a lucky girl. Reality is boring so you might as well be living in your own world.”

Monte Perlin’s Globe of Death stunt show

Perlin, a movie stuntman and a double for Arnold Schwarzenegger during his film career, rides a motorcycle inside a steel ball at breakneck speeds and his son Sam joins him on his own motorcycle. All around and upside down.

Perlin’s big screen film credits also include: Mr. & Mrs. Smith, The Wager, Hidden Secrets, Terminator 3 (he was the stunt double for Arnold Schwarzenegger), Batman, Con-Air, Star Trek and Chain Reaction.
Perlin was Adam Sandler’s stunt double for Bedtime Story which is set for release this December.

“I did a lot of chase scenes and some high flying stunts where I ride a stock Harley-Davidson 70 feet, right through a moving freight train,” Perlin says. Out this month in theaters will be Game starring Gerard Buttler. “In that one I do a light of ‘trial’ riding where I ride over cars, walls and other obstacles in Boston,” Perlin explains.

On the Terminator TV series the Sarah Conner Chronicles, Perlin played the Terminator on one show and performed stunts on several others.

Malia Manuel Makes ASP History as Youngest Ever U.S. Open Champion

Malia Manuel (Wailua, HI), 14, has claimed the GO211 LIVE featuring the Women’s Honda U.S. Open of Surfing presented by O’Neill over fellow finalist Coco Ho (North afternoon both young Hawaiians making ASP history as the youngest finalists ever at the Shore, HI), 17, in two-to-three foot (1 metre) surf at Huntington Beach Pier this U.S. Open.

“I’m so stoked right now,” Manuel said. “My sponsors gave me the wildcard into this event and I was just happy to be here. To get to surf against some of my heroes and to be in the Final with my friend Coco (Ho) is just something I would have never dreamed of.”

Sticking to her game plan throughout the event, Manuel started strong in the opening moments of the Final, securing two lengthy righthanders to post solid scores while her opponent struggled to find her footing in the challenging afternoon conditions.

“There weren’t many waves out there this afternoon which was too bad,” Manuel said. “I just got lucky that a couple linked up for me and I was able get some scores under my belt.”

Nathaniel Curran Wins ASP WQS 6-Star Honda U.S. Open, Takes ASP WQS Ratings Lead

Nathaniel Curran (Oxnard, CA) has claimed the Honda U.S. Open of Surfing presented by O’Neill and the ASP World Qualifying Series (WQS) ratings lead. The win marks Curran’s first major event victory and his first time atop the ASP WQS ratings.

“I’m so pumped I don’t even know what to say,” Curran said. “Everyone was getting me really pumped up because I really wanted to win and I’m stoked. I just tried to keep myself cool and composed the whole time. I was just trying to keep it in rhythm and keep going.”

Winning four heats today, Curran maintained his form to take out the final despite fatigue from surfing three heats earlier in the day. Curran defeated Boal 11.66 to 10.70, both out of a possible 20 point score, by taking advantage of the few waves on offer in the deteriorating conditions.

“I was giving it everything I had and we surfed so many heats today,” Curran said. “Tim Boal did an awesome job and I’m just stoked with the win.”

I started doing film and television when I was 3 years old and starting performing live theater at age 4. I have been modeling for a year and have been doing it on a weekly basis now since January. I have discovered that modeling is something I found myself to be surprisingly good at and I’ve definitely found a new love for it. Modeling has been going very well for me and I am excited to see where it takes me.”

Produced by Xstreme Productions, this event showcased the hottest motorsports products and services available in off-road sports, performance boats, personal watercrafts, sand sports, custom motorcycles, RV’s, Toyhaulers, Clothing, Accessories and more! There was tons of Motorsport Prize Give-a-ways from Exhibitors, Live Motor Sport Action Entertainment, Music, Contests and Shows.

March 15, 2008 – Guys hold on to your hats and girls hold on to your man because the wind on Saturday was ferocious and so was the event. As we covered the event we were blown away by the bad ass rides and hot models.

Renegade-Apparel crew was vending with their hottie lollipop model Carissa. We stopped to see how many licks it would take Carissa to get to the center… We “shot” our load and bounced in less than a minute!!!

Renegade-Apparel is a new clothing line that evolved from an off-road race team in 2005. “We choose our name to represent those who stand out and above the crowd at what they do.”

Renegade-Apparel represents those who live their one life on the edge and to the fullest extend, fearless. “We are currently putting together a team from various ports such as FMX, Skating, Snowboarding, Off-road racing, Wakeboarding, and BMX”

Fritz Clothing Company was rocking the High Octane Motorsports Expo. Geared-up with hottie models and a stripper pole mounted on top of the gear box… This crew knows how to get your motor running.

After our photo shoot with the fritz hottie models we needed a break. So we posted up on top of the gear box to continue to watch the girls dance. We had the best view at the High Octane Motorsport Expo!!!

February 8, 2008, Hardcore Watch Company “Sweetheart Party” – What a kick ass party!!! If you were there you know what I mean… If not… You missed out. This years event included Maxim Photography Models, custom chopper builder Kyle Kirkman of Route 66 Choppers and rock band D’Amato.

D’Amato is a four-piece modern rock group with a sense of danger and beauty that’s been missing from the music scene for far too long. Their suitably explosive debut effort “Synesthesia” marks the spot for a new beginning from a band of rock n’ roll brothers united by controversial pasts and an evolving, but positive future.

“We’re all looking for a renaissance here,” explains the group’s founder and frontman, Anthony D’Amato.” Now we have that opportunity and it’s amazing. This music is just as poetic as it is aggressive. Darkness meets hope in a barroom brawl. It forces you to lace your boots up and get ready for the fight. There’s always that ‘F*ck you’ element to it. We really hope to bring some chaos back into the world of rock.

Everything you’ve heard about D’Amato is true. Their sound is defiantly forward-looking and truly fresh in all senses of that word. “The music is very aggressive,” says bassist Dave Filice. “But the live show is the real rush because there are no safety nets.”

Kyle Kirkman owner of Route 66 Choppers has been building bikes for over 15 years. Kyle is known for building custom bikes that are unique and grab attention. Kyle has been featured on the show CHOPPER NATION and DISCOVERY CHANNEL. Kyle’s bikes have been featured in every major bike magazine and now all over the internet. Kyle’s bikes have also won every major show on the West Coast and in Europe. Kyle still keeps his low profile and his very approachable attitude. “I like building bikes for people with a beer drinkers salary.”

Featured Custom Chopper “Radio Flyer.” Designed by Kyle Kirkman after seeing an old Radio Flyer wagon at the swap meet. Inspired by his new born son and the fact Kyle never had a red wagon, he built the bike. “Old Skool” with a new look is what Kyle was after when he built the bike. Every metal part on the bike was hand made from the frame down to the exhaust system. A bike that older and younger people can reflect back on the days of speeding down the hill in your RadioFlyer.

Summary – Steve Soffa announced the launching of Hardcore Watch Company franchisee opportunities, his new watch designs and his private line of custom built choppers. He was also presented with an autographed custom design guitar by the rock band D’Amato “Sales where through the roof” said HCW manager Virginia.
